Tommy Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the Advocacy Wealth Management team. His career spans over 50 years, and he has served in various positions, from the mailroom runner of his family’s brokerage firm in his teenage years to CEO of his own firm. Tom joined Advocacy Wealth Management in early 2014 to partner with Forge Consulting in the design of services for plaintiffs.

Tommy is an Investment Adviser Representative who holds a Series 65 as well as a Georgia Resident Life & Health Insurance Agent license. Tommy continues to enjoy his work with individual clients as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. Tommy lives in Atlanta with his wife, the former Wayne Dobbs Bussey, with whom he has two children, Thomas Johnson IV and Louise.

  • Former Director of Johnson, Lane, Space, Smith & Co., Inc., 1984-1989, where he managed Institutional Equity Trading for Johnson, Lane™ as well as Corporate Fixed Income and Convertible Sales
  • Proprietary Trading and Arbitrage for successor firms Interstate/Johnson Lane Corp. and Wachovia Securities LLC, 1989-1999
  • Formed Southern Trading Partners & Consultants in 1999 to serve institutional clients in convertible arbitrage strategies, until sold to a partner in 2014
  • Formed Johnson Lane™ Advisors, LLC in 2008 to provide financial planning services to individuals and endowments
  • Formed Sage Capital Holdings, LLC in 2010 to acquire Sage Southeastern Securities, Inc.
  • Sold Sage Southeastern. in 2011 and became CEO, CCO of the successor
  • President of the Georgia Securities Association, 1986-87
  • Chairman of the Board, The Elaine Clark Center 1996-99, and 2007-2009, Vice-Chairman 2009-2015, Finance Chair 2000-Present
